Fat Shit
Now, I hate new year resolutions as invariably I will have fucked them by 2nd January.

However, I am probably the heaviest I have ever weighed a need to lose at least 1 stone.

Because I have bad joints, what exercise is best for me? Swimming?

Anything fancy I can do - speed and come are not allowed. To speed up the fat loss process. Anything fun?

Cheers

Re: Fat Shit
For weight loss focus mainly on diet.
Drink about 2 liters of water p/d ,consume lean meats, veggies, complex carbs while trying to get a 200-500 caloric deficit on your metabolic rate. (e.g. average man metabolic rate 2500 so consume 2000-2300)
Exercise wise swimming / stationary bike as they are non weight bearing. Perhaps try a spinning class 2 times a week + 2 days of resistance training.

Weight will fall off ya within a couple of months and before ya know it you will be addicted to the sun beds as you cant wait to strut your sexy new body down the classy strip of the West End in San Antonio

A reduction in blood pressure and an increase in insulin sensitivity are benefits related to weight loss - fasting can get the job done quicker, but there's nothing to suggest you wouldn't get the same benefits if you lost the weight over a longer period, at a slower rate of course.

Re: Fat Shit
Its the simple things that can help you lose weight. Taking the stairs instead of the lift. Cut out the crisps. Smaller portions etc .

I lost about 2 stone for my wedding but have whacked about a stone back on now. I'll be trying to eat healthier this year.

Re: Fat Shit
To be fair Justin, I've never met or heard of anyone doing 5/2 to improve their blood pressure. A benefit maybe, but not the main reason.

surely?"

Are you actually retarded, or just trying to give a good impression of it?

Let me say it again, in nice short words and very slowly, so you have a chance of getting the jist this time.

if you only eat fewer calories, you will lose weight. If you eat a very low intake diet for two days a week then you will also reduce your blood sugar and pressure as well. Which eating less by the amount you are talking about does not achieve.

That is why people 'act the cunt' two days a week.

Thank you for trying.

Re: Fat Shit
you need to understand why you put on weight before you can lose it and maintain. Watch "The Skinny on Obesity", or "The Bitter Truth".

Not suprised running fucked a lot up with boots on. I've got ex-army mates who no longer run due to knee injuries. Probably from the same thing.

Running, with good form, and building up sensibly, can certainly be done without crippling yourself though. I find it gives me a CV workout that cycling can't match. Plus I fucking love it.

Re: Fat Shit
All the average WHOer needs to do is cut out or substantially minimise junk/processed food and alcohol for a few months, i.e. do the opposite of what got them fat in the first place. If you've done this (strictly) for a few months and have lost weight but are still fatter than you'd like, then you can look into reducing calories (cutting out unnecessary fat/starch/sugar) and exercise, or simply being patient and dieting longer.

Looks like the fitness thread will have to be rebooted for 2015 :)

Swimming or cycling.
Running/ jogging is not good for you in long run.
We did route run/ marches 3 milers in boots..fucked a lot with shin splints, that was before the powers that be got wise.
Running gets you fit for sure, but its all cardiovascular...joints wise, a killer.
The British Army's answer was fuck the boots till week 6.

Funnily enough, it didn't make a lot of difference.
hi tec silver shadow were standard issue when I was in trainer wise...prob still is knowing MOD cretins

"surely eating 1800 calories a day every day is a much healthier way to lose weight

and then continue at 2000?"

Nope, because 1800 a day doesn't achieve the same thing as the very low intake regime.

(obviously more exercise you do - the more calories you can eat)

Re: Fat Shit
5/2 has a very solid scientific basis, and it's not just about weight loss.

The idea of the ultra low calorific intake is that it depresses insulin production, reduces blood sugar and reduces blood pressure. All documented, all researched, all based on peer reviewed medicine.

The weight loss is almost a happy coincidence, and is based on eating sensibly and regularly over the rest of the week rather than taking your two fast days as a 'free pass'

The reason that you fast is to achieve the benefits of the ultra low intake regime, and the reason that it is over two days a week is that this period is that it is the optimum result for the least suffering, you could fast more days, but you wouldn't achieve significantly better long term results, and of course the same is true of shorter periods.

Oh, and its pretty easy to do and stick to.

Leigh

I guess some people find it easier to just manage their intake 2 days a week rather than constantly?

I had an odd October/November where I was just losing weight even though I was injured (and not running) and not monitoring my intake. Christmas has put paid to that.

Iwto

Why not just eat less crap every day rather than starving yourself for 2 days?
